Wireless Site Survey - Illinois
Conducting A Site SurveyThe first step in a successful wireless installation is to conduct a site survey. It's virtually impossible to identify the ideal wireless solution and location of wireless access points without first conducting a site survey. Wireless site surveys analyze the conditions required to provide an optimal radio link, including: The users, applications and equipment on the LANs that need to be internetworked. The wireless system best suited for the application (e.g the level of security, speed and distance required). The line-of-sight requirements between antennas (using calculations for antenna size and cable length). The specific places where each component should be located (e.g. keeping access points as close to clients as possible). Whether to use a point-to-point or multipoint configuration.. Typically, point-to-point configuration is used when two buildings need to communicate to one another, while multipoint is ideal when two or more buildings need to communicate in a "triangle" configuration. Potential sources of interference in alternative RF bands (e.g cordless phones, microwaves, natural interference or other access points using the same channel). Any federal, state and local regulations (e.g FCC regulations and right-of-way mandates). Call 847.214.8200 to help match the right wireless technology-- and create a useful wireless network.
